The first modern Cypriot competition took place [[1956]]; since [[1971]] the organization has been financed by the famed brew company Carlsberg and since [[1988]], the competition takes place in the frame of the Carlsberg-festival place. Since 1989 the Miss Cyprus beauty pageant has been seen live on television.
