Kavouras was born in [[Chios]]. He played for local club Kanaris before making the big jump to [[Panathinaikos FC|Panathinaikos]].

As a player of [[Panathinaikos FC|Panathinaikos]], Kavouras scored 7 top-league goals and won two league titles: in [[1984]] and [[1986]]. In [[1987]], he transferred to [[Levadiakos FC|Levadiakos]] where he got more playing time and scored 24 goals in two seasons. Afterwards, he played for [[OFI FC|OFI]] ([[1989]] - [[1991]]) and [[Apollon Athens FC|Apollon Athens]] ([[1991]] - [[1993]]).

After his playing days were over, Kavouras became a coach.
