'''Georgios Kosmetatos-Fokas''' was a [[Greeks|Greek]] ophthalmologist, university professor and member of the [[Academy of Athens]].

Kosmetatos was born in [[1876]] in [[Argostoli]] on the island of [[Kefalonia]]. He studied ophthalmology, along with embryology and histology, in Paris, Munich and Vienna.

Kosmetatos taught ophthalmology at the [[University of Athens]], between [[1919]] and [[1947]]. Besides his teaching, he also ran a private clinic ([[1912]]-[[1927]]) and was a member of several Greek and international medical associations.

He was elected to the [[Academy of Athens]] in [[1945]]. He served as its president in [[1958]].

Kosmetatos died in [[1973]].
