'''Giorgos Babaniotis''' was a [[Greeks|Greek]] athlete who competed in the [[hammer throw]].

Babaniotis was born in [[1941]]. He was an athlete of [[Panellinios Gymnastic Club]]. He broke the Greek record for the [[hammer throw]] 16 times, the last time being in [[1974]] with 70.40m.

He was the first Greek hammer thrower to break the 60m barrier (in [[1962]]) and the first to break 70m.

Among his accomplishments were three gold medals in the Balkan Games.

He died in March of [[2002]].
