The Athenian talent (Greek: Τάλαντο) was a unit of weight and a denomination of money equal to 6,000 drachmae or 60 minae. As a measure of weight, it was equal to about 57 lbs. avoirdupois. In ancient Greece, it was considered a large sum of money.
