- 1968: Alexandros Panagoulis attempts to assassinate Dictator George Papadopoulos. The attempt fails.
- 2004: The opening Ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games takes place. Weightlifter Pyrros Dimas is the flag bearer for Greece.
- 2010: Ethnic Greek, Artistotelis Goumas, is killed in Chimara by a gang of Albanians. Earlier in the day, they had argued with Goumas over his speaking Greek.

- 1988: Evita Paraskevopoulou breaks the Greek women's record in the 50m freestyle with 26.70.
- 2008: Anorthosis Famagusta stun Olympiakos 3-0 in a CL 3rd qualifying round match. The advantage they gained resulted in Anorthosis being the first ever Cypriot team to make it into the CL group stage.
- 2014: Ermis Aradippou win the Cyprus Super Cup, for the first time in their history, by defeating favourites APOEL 2-1.
