- 1858: Old Corinth is destroyed by a major earthquake. The city will be rebuilt closer to the sea.
- 1909: Violent race riots break out against the Greek immigrants of South Omaha, Nebraska, USA.
- 1915: Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos resigns after a series of disagreements - mostly focused around entry into World War I - with King Constantine I.
- 1941: Seven Italian aircraft are downed over Greece in a single day during World War II.
- 1945: Gen. Georgios Tsolakoglou is put on trial for treason, having surrendered the Greek Army in 1941 and serving as a quisling PM.
- 1963: The ERE government puts forward proposals to amend the Greek constitution by expanding the power of the executive branch of government.
- 1964: King Paul undergoes surgery for cancer. He will die two weeks later.
- 1973: Law students barricade themselves inside the buildings of the Law School of the university of Athens demanding repeal of the law that imposed forceful conscription of "subversive youths".
- 1985: Publisher Nikos Momferatos of the daily paper Apogevmatini and his driver are killed in Kolonaki. The Revolutionary Organisation 17 November assume responsibility.
- 1988: George Vasiliou is elected President of Cyprus.
- 1993: Turkish PM, Turgut Ozal, accuses Greece of "chauvinism" in relation to FYROM's use of the name "Macedonia".
Sports
- 1971: Thomas Mavros of Panionios scores against Pierikos, at age 16 years, 8 months old, becoming the youngest Greek player to score in the Alpha Ethniki.
- 1994: Sportime, the daily sports newspaper, is first published.
- 2000: Coach Vangelis Roupakas leads Barcelona to their first Spanish Water Polo Cup. He becomes the second Greek coach after Yiannis Yiannouris (Pescara) to win a title abroad.
- 2026: Panathinaikos lift the Greek Basketball Cup after defeating Olympiakos 79-68
