  • 1922: King Constantine I abdicates the throne.
  • 1923: The Italian forces that had occupied Corfu evacuate the island. Greece is forced to pay an indemnity to the Italian government.
  • 1932: A major earthquake (7.0 on the Richter scale) strikes Chalkidiki. 161 persons are killed.
  • 1941: The resistance movement EAM (National Liberation Front) is founded by several leftist groups.
