- January 12: Asimo Lidoriki-Goura, widow of Yiannis Gouras and commander of the Acropolis defence, is killed when a Turkish bomb brings down the roof of the Erechtheum.
- January 17: Georgios Karaiskakis defeats the Turkish army at Distomo possibly saving the Greek Revolution from being extinguished in Rumeli.
- January 30: Greek forces, under Ioannis Makriyiannis, repel Turkish attacks at Kastella, Piraeus.
