- January 18: Benjamin I is controversially elected Patriarch of Constantinople.
- January 26: The national elections in Greece are inconclusive with the Liberal Party and their allies winning roughly the same number of seats in Parliament as the Popular Party and their allies. The Communist Party of Greece with its 15 seats holds the balance of power.
February
- February 16: Olympiakos thrash Panathinaikos 6-1 in a Greek league game.

- April 13: PM Konstantinos Demertzis dies in office. He is replaced by Gen. Ioannis Metaxas.
- April 30: The Hellenic Parliament votes to suspend its functions for a 5-month period. It would not reconvene until after the war.

- May 9: Violent clashes in Thessaloniki, between striking tobacco workers and police, result in 12 deaths with dozens more injured.

- June 25: The National Basketball Team of Greece plays its first game losing 49-12 against Turkey in Istanbul.

- November 17: The Battleship Georgios Averoff carries the remains of Queen Olga, King Constantine I and Queen Sophie from Brindisi for reburial in Tatoi, Greece.
