January
- January 9: Crown Prince Paul of Greece marries Princess Frederika in Athens.
- January 22: Greece defeat Palestine 3-1 in Tel Aviv (Kleanthis Vikelidis 2, Antonis Migiakis 1). It is the first away victory for the National Football Team. From 1929 till the beginning of the war Greece played only 32 matches.
March
- March 25: The National Football Team of Greece suffer their worst defeat ever losing 11-1 to Hungary in Budapest. The half-time score was 7-0.
May
- May 1: Panathinaikos player, Lysandros Dikaiopoulos, collides with Tryfon Tzanetis of AEK. He will die in hospital two days later.
June
- June 2: The RHS Vasilissa Olga is launched.
- June 12: Panathinaikos go ahead of Olympiakos 4-0 by the 59th minute of play but Yiannis Vazos proceeds to score 4 goals in the remaining 31 minutes to equalise.
July
- July 20: A strong earthquake (6.0 on the Richter scale) strikes Oropos in northern Attica, killing 18 persons.
- July 28: A revolt against the Ioannis Metaxas dictatorship is put down in Chania, Crete.

- August 7: Grigoris Lambrakis breaks the Greek record for the long jump with 7.19m.
- August 7: Ioannis Palamiotis breaks the Greek record for the triple jump with 14.66m
- August 14: Grigoris Lambrakis breaks the Greek record for the long jump with 7.37m. This record stood for 21 years.
September
- September 4: Ioannis Palamiotis breaks the Greek record for the triple jump with 14.70m and takes 4th place in the European Games of Paris.
- September 11: The ancient theatre of Epidaurus is put to use again - after 2000 years. The first play put on is "Electra" by Sophocles.
October
- October 4: The Greek traffic police is established.
November
- November 18: PM Ioannis Metaxas leaves for Ankara to attend the funeral of Kemal Ataturk.
