  • July 8: The Olympic Swimming Complex, constructed under the initiative of the Hellenic Olympic Committee at a cost of 7.5 million drachmas, is inaugurated.
  • July 12: Two Greek Navy auxiliary vessels - the Orion and the Hydra - are attacked by Italian aircraft off the coast of Crete.
