January

• January 14: Major Ioannis Tsigantes, leader of the resistance movement Midas 614, is slain during a battle with Italian carabinieri.
• January 19: The "RHS Vasilissa Olga" sinks the Italian ship Stromboli off the coast of Tunisia.

February

• February 4: Kostas Perrikos, head of resistance group PEAN is executed by the Germans.

March

• March 5: Dozens of Greeks are killed during a protest against conscription by the occupying Axis powers.
• March 6: ELAS guerrilas attack a convoy of Italian occupation troops at Fardykampos near Siatista, Macedonia. They capture 600 prisoners and much war materiel.
• March 15: The first convoy of Greek Jews leaves for Auschwitz.
• March 20: Italian occupation troops execute several Greeks in Kastoria, western Macedonia. Among those killed is the local priest Father Ch. Papachristou.
• March 23: Archbishop Damaskinos and several Greek business leaders formally request that measures be taken by the Logothetopoulos government for the protection of Greek Jews.

April

• April 7: Col. Stefanos Sarafis becomes commander of resistance movement ELAS.

June

• June 6: Greek communist leader, Pantelis Pouliopoulos, is executed by the Italians near Larisa.
• June 25: 200,000 Greeks take to the streets in a general strike against the German occupation authorities.

July

• July 13: German occupation troops burn down the village of Kefalovryso, Ioannina prefecture, Epirus. Among those executed is the village priest.
• July 22: Thousands protest in Athens against the expansion of the Bulgarian occupation zone in Macedonia.

August

• August 16: The village of Kommeno, Arta prefecture, is destroyed by the Germans. 317 of its inhabitants are slain.
• August 18: The last convoy of Thessaloniki Jews arrives in Auschwitz concentration camp.

September

• September 12: Cretan guerrilas under Manolis Bantouvas attack German troops near Viannos, Heraklio prefecture.
• September 14: Greek guerrilas, belonging to the EKKA resistance movement, attack and defeat a group of German soldiers at Skaloula. Five Germans are killed and nearly 20 are wounded.
• September 14: Germans destroy 11 villages in Heraklio prefecture. 352 villagers are killed.
• September 26: The RHS Vasilissa Olga is sunk off the coast of Leros by German bombers.
• September 30: 10 Greeks are executed in Patra by the Nazis.

October

• October 3: 82 Greeks are executed by the German occupation forces in Epirus.

November

• November 7: German Nazi forces destroy the larger part of Karpenisi by setting it on fire.
• November 26: German occupying forces execute 118 hostages in Monodendri, Laconia.

December

• December 13: The Holocaust of Kalavryta takes place as German soldiers execute 1,101 villagers.
• December 14: Elias Venezis' book "Aeolian Land" ("Αιολική Γη") is published.
• December 18: German occupation forces execute 133 persons at Drakia, Thessaly.
