January
- January 6: Greek Prime Minister Alexandros Diomedes resigns amid a scandal involving members of his government.
- January 8: 40-year old former Olympiakos forward, Christoforos Rangos, inserts himself in the lineup of AO Zografos - the team he is coaching - when one of his players does not show up. He dies in the 28th minute of the match of a heart attack.
- January 15: The Church of Cyprus organises a referendum as to the future status of the island colony. 97% of all participants vote for Enosis with Greece.

- November 28: Hellenic-Yugoslavian diplomatic relationships, severed during the Civil War, are re-established.

- December 20: Nikos Belogiannis, member of the Central Committee of KKE, is arrested as he returns to Greece to help organize the party's structure.
