- February 1: Greek PM Andreas Papandreou and Turkish PM Turgut Ozal, sign the Davos Accord.
May
- May 8: Panathinaikos goalkeeper Nikos Sarganis helps his team win the Greek Cup in a penalty shootout, by saving two Olympiakos shots while scoring one himself.
June
- June 28: US Military Attache, Wiliam Nordeen, is assassinated by a booby-trapped car in Kifissia. The Revolutionary Organisation 17 November claim responsibility.
July
- July 11: Terrorists attack the Greek cruise ship "City of Poros (ship)" killing 9 people and injuring 71 others.
- July 13: Newly-acquired Olympiakos player Lajos Detari is given a hero's welcome in Piraeus.
August
- August 15: Without firing a shot, November 17th members tie up a number of police officers at Vyronas, Athens and leave with cache of weapons and ammunition.
October
- October 20 - George Koskotas, banker, publisher and team owner (Olympiakos) is indicted on fraud and embezzlement charges
November
- November 23: George Koskotas is arrested in Massachusetts where he had fled following his indictment in October.
