- January 27: An Athens Appellate Court acquits Police Officer Athanasios Melistas in the 1985 shooting of 15-year old student Kaltezas.
February
- February 5: The Revolutionary Organization 17 November sends a proclamation to the "Epikairotita" newspaper, assuming responsibility for stealing two bazookas from the Greek War Museum.
- February 27: Despite opposition from the Church, divorce laws are reformed and the civil wedding ceremony is introduced in Cyprus.

- April 8: New Democracy win the 3rd parliamentary elections held within a year with 46.8% of the vote and 150 seats.
