  • May 16: Newcastle defender Nikos Dabizas is the first Greek to play in an English FA Cup final at Wembley (Newcastle - Arsenal 2-0)
  • May 23: Olympiakos lose to Ferencvaros in the Waterpolo European Cup double final.
  • May 24: Panathinaikos win their first Greek championship in 14 years by defeating PAOK 68-58 in the playoffs. After this game PAOK star Predrag Stojakovic moves to the Sacramento Kings becoming the first Greek to play in NBA.
  • May 31: Greece U21 rank 2nd after losing to Spain 1-0 in the final of European Football Championship.
