Dimitris Saravakos

Born on 29 July 1961, Dimitris Saravakos started his football career at Panionios where his father,Thanasis Saravakos, had played with distinction during the 1950s and 1960s.

He transferred to Panathinaikos in 1984 and quickly won the fans over with his speed and fine technique.

Late in his career, he joined AEK.

He was capped 78 times, scoring 22 goals, for the National Football Team of Greece and was a member of the Greek squad that played in the 1994 World Cup.

He scored 185 times (127 goals with PAO) in 432 game for the A Division.

Joined Panathinaikos in the summer of '84 and lead the club to much success, in domestic and International games. Won 3 league titles and 6 cups together with 2 Greek super cups. In Europe he reached the semi final of the Champions Cup in '84-'85 , and the quarter finals of the UEFA CUP in 87-88 and the Champions league in 91-92. Played on the right wing and terrorised defences with his lethal thunderbolts and free kicks. Was also a penalty specialist.
