Strakosha was born in Albania of Greek descent and has spent a large part of his career in Greece.

His clubs include Minatori Tepeleni and Dinamo Tirana in Albania as well as:

in Greece.

Afterwards, Strakosha became a goalkeeping coach first with Olympiakos and later with Cypriot club APOEL and Italian side Lazio Roma.

His sons Dhimitri (striker) and Thomas (keeper), both born in Greece, are professional football players at Ethnikos and Lazio Roma. Thomas is international for Albania too.
