- 1771: Cretan revolutionary, Daskaloyiannis, is skinned alive by the Turks in Heraklio.
- 1944: German occupation troops destroy Ypati, Phthiotis prefecture after executing 28 inhabitants.
- 1946: The Greek Parliament controversially votes into law the Emergency Measures Act which allows the death penalty for those that "work against public order and the territorial integrity of the state"
- 1948: Assassin Efthymios Moutsoyiannis and eight accomplices go on trial for the murder of Justice Minister Christos Ladas.
- 2009: 41-year old police officer, Nektarios Savvas, is shot dead in the Patisia section of Athens, while guarding a witness in the case against the Revolutionary People's Struggle.
- 2012: In the repeat national elections, New Democracy again finish first with 29.66% of the vote and 130 seats in Parliament. SYRIZA finish second with 26.89% and 71 seats. Once again, Golden Dawn return to Parliament with 18 seats thanks to a 6.92% share of the vote.

- 1934: Olympiakos clinch the 1934 Football Championship by defeating Iraklis 2-1 in their second playoff game. The reds had also won the first game 3-2.
- 1964: Fans vandalise and burn Leoforos Alexandras Stadium after a very suspicious 1-1 Greek Cup semifinal draw between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos. The players of the two teams escape disguised as policemen, bus drivers, etc.
- 1980: Greece draw W. Germany 0-0 in the finals of Euro 1980.
- 1993: Alexandros Terzian breaks the Greek record for the 100m with 10.20. The old record was established by Vasilis Papageorgopoulos (10.22) and had stood for 21 years.
- 2003: AEK's forward Demis Nikolaidis marries singer Despina Vandi.
- 2010: Greece score their first goals and record their first win in World Cup Soccer at the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa, beating Nigeria with a score of 2-1. The goals for Greece were scored by Dimitris Salpingidis 44' and Vassilis Torosidis 71'.
