- 1940: Panathinaikos defeat Aris 3-1 at the Leoforos Stadium and lift the Greek Football Cup for the first time. The match is played during wartime, on the eve of the allies’ evacuation of Dunkirk.
- 1963: AEK defeat Iraklis 5-0 for the Greek League. All five goals are scored by Kostas Nestoridis.
- 1970: 43-year-old Ferenc Puskas, the Galloping Major of Real Madrid and national team of Hungary, becomes Panathianikos' coach. Puskas will lead Panathinaikos to the final of the Champions Cup against Ajax at Wembley one year later.
