- 1940: With Kleanthis Vikelidis in its roster, Aris is defeated by Panathinaikos (3-1) at the Leoforos Stadium at the final of the Greek Football Cup. The match is played during wartime, on the eve of the allies’ defeat at Dunkirk.
- 1963: AEK defeat Iraklis 5-0 for the Greek League. All five goals are scored by Kostas Nestoridis.
- 1970: 43-year-old Ferenc Puskas, the Galloping Major of Real Madrid and national team of Hungary, becomes Panathianikos' coach. Puskas will lead Panathinaikos to the final of the Champions Cup against Ajax at Wembley one year later.
- 1971: Panathinaikos play Ajax Amsterdam in the 1971 European Cup Final. Ajax win 2-0.
- 1990: AEK defeat Olympiakos 3-2 to win the first Greek League Cup.
- 2003: The historic Nikos Goumas Stadium is torn down.
- 2007: Louis Tsatoumas breaks the Greek record in the long jump with a performance of 8.66m.
