Kastoria (Greek: Καστοριά) is a city in northwestern Greece. It is the capital of Kastoria prefecture in Macedonia. The name is derived from Castor the mythological son of Zeus. In Byzantine times Kastoria reached her high point with many buildings, churches and defensive structures being built. The city fell under Ottoman yoke until the First Balkan War when it became part of Greece.
