Kostas Politis was a Greek basketball player and coach.
Politis was born in Athens on March 21,1942. As a player, he was a member of Near East and later Panathinaikos. He played 41 times for the National Basketball Team of Greece from 1961 to 1968, scoring 131 points.
As a coach, he began his career in the youth system of Panathinaikos. Later, he coached Arionas and Apollonas and finally, in 1978, he managed to become head coach of Panathinaikos. In that capacity, he led the team to three consecutive Greek championships, 2 Greek Basketball Cups and a 6th place in European Club championship in 1982. After that Politis was coach of PAOK, again Panathinaikos and [[AEK BC|AEK]. His achievements were two lost Cup Finals with PAOK, a third place at the FIBA European League Final Four in 1994 with Panathinaikos and another lost Cup Final with AEK.
In the May of 1982, he became the head coach of the National team. Politis coached a total of 146 games and was at the helm of Greece when they won Eurobasket 1987.
