She was born Maria Dimitrakopoulou on November 9, 1935, in Pyrgos, Elis prefecture.
She is perhaps best known as the wife of singer, composer and Greek music innovator Manolis Chiotis, whom she also partnered in song, as one of the great musical duets of the 1960s.
