- 1941: Manolis Glezos and Apostolos Santas take down the German flag from the Acropolis, Athens.

- 1990: A liver transplant is performed for the first time in Greece.

- 1897: First athletics championships organized by Panellinios. The games (held for 2 days in Fokianos Gymnasium) include track-and-field events, wrestling, fencing and weightlifting.
- 1990: Maria Christoforidou wins 3 gold medals at the World Weightlifting Championships in Sarajevo.
- 1996: Former AEK midfielder Vasilis Tsartas signs with Sevilla.
- 1998: Katerina Thanou breaks the womens' 100m Greek record with a time of 10.99.
- 1999: The European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship closes in Budapest. Greece (featuring Aindili, Christodoulou, Karyami, Polatou, Georgatou) won the gold medal with 39.799 points.
- 1999: Vassilis Polymeros and Panagiotis Miliotis take first place at the World Rowing Championship in Belgium.
- 1999: Led by coach Dusan Bajevic, Olympiakos win their third consecutive Greek league title. Ethnikos become the sole team in Greek first division history not to win a single game.
