The Minister for the Interior of Greece is a government minister responsible for the running of the Ministry of the Interior. Over the years, the ministry has developed having acquired different functions and responsibilities.
On September 15 1995, the Ministry of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of the Interior were merged to become the Ministry of the Interior, Public Administration and Decentralisation.
On September 19, 2007, the Ministry for the Interior, Public Administration and Decentralisation was combined with the Ministry for Public Order into the Ministry for the Interior and Public Order.
On October 7, 2009, it was renamed the Ministry of the Interior, Decentralisation and Electronic Governance.
As of November 11, 2011, it is once again simply called the Ministry of the Interior.
The current Minister is Yiannis Michelakis
