Minos Matsas, composer, is the grandson of Minos Matsas, a Greek lyricist and music industry executive. He received degrees in Music from the Athens Conservatory, Juilliard school and Columbia University.

Minos Matsas began his career in Athens as a producer at EMI in 1994, while writing music for cinema, theater, dance, classical pieces, and traditional Greek songs.

He started his own label "Messogios" (Μεσόγειος - Greek for "Mediterranean") and launched his own career as a composer. In 1996 he opened Odeon Studios, a state of the art studio complex, which he still manages.

On September 28, 2002, the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sophia celebrated its golden anniversary at the Regent Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. The Cathedral commissioned Matsas to compose and conduct his piece Ethos: Tribute to the Golden Cathedral.

His works include music for films, theater, dance, animation, popular songs and orchestral music. His CDs have been released by EMI, His Master's Voice and Sony Music. His works have been performed at the National Theater of Greece, the Athens Concert Hall, the Palace Theater and Lincoln Center.

Matsas originally left Greece to attend the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. After completing his studies at Juilliard, he moved to Los Angeles, where he is currently pursuing a career in film scoring.

In 2003, his New York debut at Lincoln Center included a performance of his original score Diary of a Lost Girl. In May 2003, Mr. Matsas music was performed at the Metropolitan Opera of New York to accompany the film The Parthenon, directed by the Academy Award winner Costas Gavras.

Minos Matsas is currently based out of Los Angeles where he is credited for having recently scored several independent feature films.
