Mykonos is a city on the western part of the Greek island of Mykonos in the Cyclades island complex. It is the island's capital and chief port. Its population in 2001 was 7929 inhabitants.

Mykonos, known locally as "Chora", is the centre of the island's tourist industry with transportation to most major local resorts. Shops in the area cater to all tastes, Greek and European and many celebrities can be seen strolling its streets. Yet, despite its cosmopolitan character, Mykonos has retained its typical Cyclades look with its white-washed, cube-shaped houses.
