- 1918: The Battle of Skra, fought in the Macedonia front in World War I, ended in Greek victory over the Bulgarians.
- 1941: Manolis Glezos and Apostolos Santas took down the German flag from the Acropolis, Athens.
- 1969: The first Greek policewomen went on duty.
- 1990: A liver transplant was performed for the first time in Greece.
- Births: Gerasimos Arsenis, politician (1931), Alketas Panagoulias, football player and coach (1934), Kostas Chalkias, footballer (1974)
- Deaths: Bishop Germanos of Patra, who blessed the Greek War of Independence (1826).
- 1924: Nikolaos Plastiras and Stylianos Gonatas were promoted to the rank of Lt. General for their role in bringing down the Laiko Komma government after the Asia Minor Disaster
- 1951: Right-wing officers, belonging to IDEA, staged an attempted coup which ended after the intervention of Gen Alexandros Papagos.
- 1987: The first private radio station Athena 9,84 FM began broadcasting.
