Rafik Djebbour

Rafik Djebbour (born on March 8, 1984 in Grenoble, France) is an Algerian football player currently playing as a striker for Olympiakos Piraeus in the Greek Super League.

Club career

Djebour started his career at La Louviere in 2003 before moving to Greece to play for the Beta Ethniki side Ethnikos Asteras. After impressing during his 6-month spell with Ethnikos Asteras, he was signed by the Super League side Atromitos for a fee of €80K. He was offered a trial by the English Premier League side Watford in November 2006 but was not signed so, in January 2007, he was signed by Panionios were he scored 18 times in 38 appearances catching the eye of a handful of top European clubs. On August 30, AEK paid €3.15M to sign him on a three-year contract[1].

On November 1, 2008, Djebbour scored his first goal for AEK, a spectacular overhead scissors kick, in the 93rd minute of the game against Asteras Tripolis which gave AEK a 2-1 victory. Djebbour was released by AEK in January 2011. He signed for Olympiakos Piraeus.


International career

Djebbour received his first call up to the senior Algeria national team in October 2006.[2] He has been called up to represent Algeria during their qualifiers for the 2010 world cup.
