Spetsopoula

Spetsopoula is a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea, located SE of Spetses. Spetsopoula is privately owned by the Niarchos family.

On May 4, 1970, in the house of Stavros Niarchos on Spetsopoula, his wife, Evgenia Niarchos, was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The coroner attributed the death to a barbiturate overdose, exhonorating Stavros Niarchos who claimed that the bruises found on his wife's body were due to his strenuous efforts to resuscitate her.
