Vasilis Botinos
Vasilis Botinos was a multi-talented football left winger who played in the Alpha Ethniki for Olympiakos from 1964 until 1971.
Botinos was born on October 19, 1944 and played for Olympiakos Volos before being transferred to Olympiakos Piraeus. His specialties included speed, dribble, faking out defenders and leaping higher than anyone else on corner kicks and freekicks into the box.
Unfortunately, what he had as far as talent went, he lacked in temperament and the slightest reprimand from his coach would often send him packing for Volos...
Botinos left Olympiakos and played the 1972-73 season for Panaigialios in the Beta Ethniki. The following year, he returned to the top league with Panionios and ended his career.
Botinos was capped 12 times by the Greek National Football Team scoring 3 goals, including a brace against Switzerland.
He died on February 16, 2022.
