<p>Dtassio: tourism events research</p> <hr /> <div>Dimitri is an Associate Director at the School of Tourism &amp; Hospitality of Walter Sisulu University, South Africa. <br /> <br /> Since 1993, he has been involved in various national and international tourism research projects, of a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional nature, concerning agritourism, event, cultural and wine tourism, amongst others. Dimitri is a board member of a number international peer-reviewed research journals. He has presented several papers at national and international conferences. Dimitri is the author and editor of the multiple edition book - Events Management- a developmental and a managerial approach (Juta). He is also the editor and author of New Tourism Ventures- an entrepreneurial and managerial approach (published by Juta). Dimitri has written a number of academic articles and chapters on various event and tourism-related topics,. In 2004 he was appointed as a member of the South African Qualifications Authority’s Standards Generating Body (SGB) for Travel, Tourism &amp; Events, and was appointed as the chairperson of the said SGB. He acts as the vice president of the Tourism and Hospitality Education Providers of South Africa (THEPSA). This Federation represents further (FET) and higher education (HET) institutions offering the spectrum of qualifications related with the management of the tourism industry. He is also acts as the chairperson of the Tourism and Events Educators Chamber of South Africa (TEECSA) which is an association representing higher education travel, tourism and events related programme providers.
