1938-apollon-team.jpg (725 × 524 pixels, file size: 53 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
The 1938 Apollon Athens team that earned the nickname Light Brigade. Standing (L-R): Hadjisavvas, Damalas, Gregoriadis, Stratos, Pananos. Bottom row (L-R): Hadjivasilis, Gizoris, Vouvoudakis, Giakoumakis
Notice the insignia, an angled cross (tetraskele), a symbol common in antiquity Greece. The team later dropped it to avoid association with Nazi Germany and Hitler, who monopolized it as a national symbol (read: The History of the Swastika).
