The club was founded in [[1929]] in [[Heraklion]], [[Crete]] by locals who for the most part were [[Asia Minor]] refugees. Ergotelis first participated in the [[Alpha Ethniki]] in the [[2005]] season but was were relegated. In [[2006]], they won the [[Football B Division|B Division]] championship and played in returned to the top league where they played until the end of the [[2012]] season. In [[2014]], they once again returned to the [[Football A Division|A Division]]
