==Playing career==
Melissis was born on [[December 1]], [[1982]], in [[Edessa]], [[Macedonia]], [[Greece]]. He started his career at [[Naoussa FC|Naoussa]] and then played for five years for [[Panserraikos FC|Panserraikos]] before attracting the interest of [[PAOK FC|PAOK]].
He was signed by [[PAOK FC|PAOK]] in January [[2006]] and became an important first team player from the start. He scored his first goal for PAOK in a home game versus [[Aris FC|Aris]] in [[2007]].
Towards the end of the 2007–08 season, he was named captain of the [[PAOK FC|PAOK]] as a reward for his play and commitment.
On [[July 28 July]] , [[2008]], he transferred to [[Panathinaikos FC|Panathinaikos]] for €2€ 2,000,000. He played in 11 games in the 2008–09 season, but his appearances were not convincing and, on [[August 31]], [[2009]], he was loaned to [[Larisa FC|AEL]] for one year.
The following year, Melissis was loaned out to Portuguese club Marítimo. On [[December 29 December]] , [[2010]], he re-joined [[Larisa FC|AEL]] again on loan.
In June [[2012]], he joined [[Panthrakikos FC|Panthrakikos]] as a free agent.
 
In [[2013]] he went to [[Olympiakos Volos FC|Olympiakos Volos]] to go back to [[Panthrakikos FC|Panthrakikos]] the next year. In [[2016]] he joined [[Veria FC|Veria]] to leva them the next year for Al-Hilal Omdurman in Sudan. After his spell abroad he returned to [[Greece]] to play for Asteras Itea and Thyella Sarakinon.
