Until the [[1960s]] and the [[1970s]], farmlands covered the area around Agios Stefanos, of which a remainder still exists around the locality. Forests still covers part of the area, while most of the population are urban, having in the 1960s and the 1970s once been rural. Luxury residences arrived in Agios Stefanos in the 1970s and continued into the [[1990s]], and development continues to this day.

		+	Agios Stefanos was originally populated in [[1924]] by refugees from [[Asia Minor]] and [[Constantinople]], especially from its suburb of Agios Stefanos (present day Yesilkoy). It was then part of Boyiati. By [[1926]], the first houses were completed to house the refugees who, up until that time, had been living in tents. Boyiati eventually split into Neo Boyiati (Agios Stefanos) and Palaio Boyiati ([[Anoixis]]).
