'''Akis Kleanthous''' is a [[Cyprus|Cypriot]] businessman and politician, the current [[Minister for Education and Culture (Cyprus)|Minister for Education and Culture]].

Kleanthous was born in [[1964]] and hails from Argaka, [[Paphos province]]. After serving as an officer in the [[National Guard]], he studied at Baruch College, New York City with post-graduate studies at St. John’s University, Νew York where he οbtained an MΒA in Quantitative Analysis.

On his return to Cyprus, he was employed in the banking sector distinguishing himself for the initiatives he exhibited in the field of electronic banking services.

In [[2003]], he was appointed Chairman of the Cyprus Stock Exchange, an office he held up to [[February 20]], [[2007]], when he assumed the office of [[Minister for Education and Culture (Cyprus)|Minister of Education and Culture]].

Kleanthous is involved in the [[Democratic Party of Cyprus]] (DIKO), as a member of its Executive Office and Head of its Political Planning Bureau He is married and has one child.
