'''Eugene T. "Gene" Rossides''' is a [[Greek-American]] sports figure, political appointee and political activist.

Rossides was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA to Greek parents and attended Erasmus Hall High School where he quarterbacked the school's football team ("Dutchmen"). He was scouted there by Sid Luckman, himself a former Erasmus quarterback, and was brought to Columbia University.
At Columbia, Rossides quarterbacked the school Football Team ("Lions") and achieved academic excellence.

Following graduation in [[1949]], Rossides went into law practice and eventually came to serve in the New York State Attorney General's Office. In [[1969]], President Richard Nixon appointed him Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. Rossides served in that capacity until [[1973]].

Following the Turkish invasion of [[Cyprus]] on [[July 20]], [[1974]], Rossides formed the American Hellenic Institute making every effort to make the American public aware of the situation and to lobby Congress against the "Fait accompli". Since 1974, the AHI has also expanded its role into the cultural, social and intellectual realm. Gene Rossides has been honoured by Americans and Greeks alike, including Greek President [[Kostis Stephanopoulos]].
