Zacharopoulos was born on [[December 29]], [[1897]] in [[Agioi Pantes (Phocis)|Agioi Pantes]], [[Phocis prefecture]]. As an athlete, he belonged to Ethnikos GC.

Zacharopoulos broke the Greek record for the [[javelin throw]] eight times the last one on [[October 12]], [[1930]], in [[Athens]] with 63.41m. He was a member of the Greek team in the Paris Olympics of [[1924]] and at Amsterdam in [[1928]].

Among his accomplishments were 2 gold medals in the Balkan Games of [[1929]] and [[1930]].
