'''Gikas Chardouvelis''' (alternative spelling '''Hardouvelis''', [[Greek language|Greek]] Γκίκας Χαρδούβελης) is a [[Greeks|Greek]] professor, economist and cabinet Minister.

Chardouvelis was born on [[October 8]], [[1955]]. He studied at Harvard University - where he obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees - and the University of California at Berkeley where he obtained his Ph.D. in Economics.

Following graduation, he taught as Columbia University and Rutgers before moving back to [[Greece]] to teach at the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the [[University of Piraeus]].

Chardouvelis was appointed [[Minister for Finance (Greece)|Minister of Finance]] in June [[2014]] by PM [[Antonis Samaras]].
