Semertzidis was born in [[1957]]. He played for [[Aris FC]] from [[1976]] until [[1985]] when he was acquired by [[Olympiakos FC|Olympiakos]] [[Piraeus]]. In December [[1987]], he returned to [[Thessaloniki]] and played with [[Apollon Kalamaria FC|Apollon Kalamaria]] until [[1990]] when he ended his career.

During his playing career, Semertzidis was capped 26 times by the [[National Football Team]] of [[Greece]].

After his playing days were over, he coached [[Aris FC|Aris]] and the [[Under-17 National Football Team]] of [[Greece]]. He is currently on the coaching staff of [[Aris FC|Aris]]' youth academies.
