Hursid was born in Amman, present-day Jordan, in the latter part of the 18th Century and studied in [[Alexandria]] and Great Britain.<br />
<br />
He was military governor of [[Morea]] when the Greek [[War of Independence]] broke out in [[1821]], however the war found him in Albania fighting [[Ali Pasha]]. Still, Hursid Pasha managed to send reinforcements to [[Tripolis]] when that city came under siege by the Greek revolutionaries. <br />
<br />
After his victory against Ali Pasha, Hursid came into disfavour of Sultan [[Mahmud II]] who replaced him as Commander in Chief with [[Dramali Pasha]]. He died later that same year ([[1822]]).<br />
