'''James''' ([[Greek language|Greek]] Ιάκωβος) was a clergyman of the [[17th century]] who served three terms as [[Patriarch of Constantinople]].

James was originally from the island of [[Chios]]. He served as Metropolitan of [[Larisa]] before becoming Patriarch for the first time in [[1679]]. He was dethroned on [[July 30]], [[1682]] but was enthroned once more three years later. Once more he was removed in [[1686]] only to return the following year. His third enthronement was opposed by many and, eventually, on [[March 3]], [[1688]], James abdicated for good and left for Moldavia where he died in [[1700]].
