Kazamias became actively involved in politics joining the left-wing [[AKEL]] party. He stood successfully for the [[Cyprus House of Representatives]] in [[1991]] and [[1996]].

In [[2011]], he was appointed [[Ministry for the Economy (Cyprus)|Minister for the Economy]].
