<p></p> <p><b>New page</b></p><div>&#039;&#039;&#039;Kimolos&#039;&#039;&#039; is an island in the [[Aegean Sea]], at the south-west part of [[Cyclades]] at a distance of 1,6 km north-east of [[Milos]]. It has a population of 769 inhabitants (2001 Greek Census) and includes administratively the uninhabited islands Polyaigos (literally translated Many-Goats), Agios Georgios and Agios Efstathios.<br /> <br /> An older name of Kimolos was Echinousa. Its current name originates from Kimolos, the person who, according to ancient Greek tradition, was the first to establish residence on the island. During the Middle Ages it was occupied by Venetians and named Argentiera. It was united with Greece along with the rest of Cyclades after the [[War of Independence|Greek independence]] from the Ottoman Empire in 1829.<br /> <br /> The capital of the island is Chora or Chorio.
