'''Kostas Politis''' was a [[Greece|Greek]] [[basketball]] player and coach.

Politis was born in [[Athens]] in [[1942]]. As a player, he was a member of [[Near East BC|Near East]] and later [[Panathinaikos BC|Panathinaikos]]. He played 41 times for the [[National Basketball Team]] of Greece from [[1961]] to [[1967]].
As a coach, he began his career in the youth system of Panathinaikos. Later, he coached Arionas and Apollonas and finally, in [[1978]], he managed to become head coach of Panathinaikos. In that capacity, he led the team to three consecutive [[A1 League|Greek championships]], 2 [[Greek Basketball Cup]]s and a 6th place in European Club championship in [[1982]].

In the May of [[1982]], he became the head coach of the National team. Politis was at the helm of Greece when they won [[Eurobasket 1987]].
