'''Michalis Economou''' was a significant [[Greeks|Greek]] painter of the early part of the [[20th Century]].

Economou was born in [[Piraeus]] in [[1888]]. He was first taught painting by [[Konstantinos Volanakis]] before leaving in [[1906]] for Paris. There, he continued his studies of fine arts, taking part in several exhibits. In [[1926]], he returned to [[Greece]], settling in [[Athens]].

Economou died in [[1933]].

He is considered one of the best impressionist painters that Greece has produced and his work is admired both in Greece and abroad.
