Liakos was born on [[February 19]], [[1956]]. He played for Thesprotos before transferring to [[PAS Giannina FC|PAS]] [[Giannina]] in [[1974]].

In December [[1984]], he transferred to [[PAOK FC|PAOK]] [[Thessaloniki]] where he won the Greek championship. Later he played for [[Trikala FC]] and [[Kerkyra FC]] before returning to
[[PAS Giannina FC|PAS Giannina]] in [[1988]].

Liakos was capped four times by the [[National Football Team]] of Greece.
